Berlou is the perfect holiday location for those who want serenity and calmness and want to enjoy the French lifestyle during their holiday. It is a small village located in the wine producing area of AOC St. Chinian. In September you can enjoy the wine producing activities. And of course this is wine country! Endless opportunities for wine- tasting and purchasing.
Berlou has a shop of the Cave Cooperative where you can taste and buy the excellent wines the village produces.
St.Chinian and Cessenon sur Orb both villages 10 minute’s drive have all the amenities, shops and restaurants. St. Chinian has a large traditional French Market on Thursday and Sunday.
A few days a week a local mobile bakery passes by in Berlou.
Berlou has an excellent restaurant Le Faitout.
Public tennis court in the village.
Nearby golf courts Lamalou les Bains and Beziers 25 minutes by car.
In the area many picturesque villages like Roquebrun (Little Nice of the Languedoc), Olargues, Vieussan, Minerve, the cities of Carcasonne, Beziers (the Feria in August not to be missed), Narbonne and Montpellier are worth visiting.
The area is steeped with history with many abbeys, chateaux and cathedrals to visit and discover the story of the Cathars in the middle- ages.
The Canal du Midi is a fantastic experience, its tree-lined waterside walks interrupted only by many small villages for the typical French long lunch experience.
Mediterranean coast 35 minute’s drive. Long sandy beaches. Waterside cafes and restaurants.
Visit the fisherman villages Bouzigues, Marseillan en Sete and enjoy the fresh oysters, mussels and local fish.
All around is spectacular countryside and scenery .Leisurely walks through the vineyards or by the river, mountain biking or hiking and breath-taking views in the Languedoc National Park and the amazing Gorges d Heroic. Truly unmissable!
Spanish border only 90 minute’s drive from Berlou, daytrip to the Costa Brava and visit Figueres (Dali Museum) and Gerona.
